Pause, resume, archive and restore a mission
Choose the right mission control, keep history, check campaign outcomes and recover an uncertain Resume request.
Keep a mission under control as your priorities change. Pause it when you need to review the work, archive it when you want it out of the active list, and restore it when you are ready to revisit it.
Choose the right action#
| Your goal | Use | What to check afterwards |
|---|---|---|
| Stop new work while you review | Pause mission | The mission shows Paused; keep its existing records and conversations in view. |
| Pick up a paused mission | Review & resume | The saved setup is still right, and Kite confirms the outcome. |
| Put the mission away | Archive mission, after pausing | It appears under Archived; review any campaign warning. |
| Bring an archived mission back for review | Restore as paused | The mission is paused; check its campaigns before resuming. |
Pausing or archiving does not cancel your subscription or prevent renewal. Messages already sent remain sent. Unused Reach does not roll over because a mission was paused. Manage a subscription separately in Billing.
Before you change anything#
Open Missions, then the mission you intend to change. Read its name, objective, current state and involvement setting. If you have more than one workspace, confirm you are in the correct one.
Look at recent Activity and the mission's Outreach. Note any outstanding business question, approval or conversation that still needs your attention. A quiet mission is not proof that every campaign has stopped, and an unavailable read is not a zero.
Pause a mission#
- Open Manage, then Pause mission.
- Read the confirmation. Pausing stops new work on this mission and keeps what it has found. Billing continues.
- Select Pause mission in the confirmation.
- Wait for the result, then check the mission's current state. If the result is missing or the page reports a failure, refresh and read the current state before choosing another action.
Pausing does not retract a message, delete a conversation or answer a prospect's question. Review any reply that needs a business decision. Paused managed work still occupies active capacity; pausing is not a way to create additional capacity.
Pause confirmation explains new work, retained records and unchanged billing.
Review and resume#
- Open the mission and inspect Manage → Review & resume when offered. It can also appear for an eligible completed or exhausted mission when the backend confirms it can resume; a completed label alone does not decide this.
- Read What picks back up. Check the saved involvement choice and the monthly allocation shown in the confirmation.
- Review Settings if the objective, audience, Introduction criteria or permissions need changing. Return to the confirmation after those changes are saved.
- Select Resume mission when the saved setup is ready. Kite checks it again and reports anything that must be resolved first.
- Check the outcome and current mission state. A queued action or a confirmation button press is not evidence that work resumed.
If a managed Resume reports that its outcome is unknown, keep the original browser session and workspace. Use the same Resume control to recover the retained request as the message instructs. Do not clear browser storage, create a replacement mission or generate a separate request to force a result. If the original request cannot be recovered, record the message and get help before another attempt.
A recorded Resume can also be followed by a later pause or state change. Read the latest state; do not override that later decision simply because an earlier request succeeded.
Resume confirmation shows the saved involvement and monthly allocation.
Archive a mission#
- Pause the mission first. While it is working, Archive mission is disabled and tells you to pause it.
- Open Manage → Archive mission.
- Read the confirmation, then select Archive mission.
- Check Archived in Missions and read any warning about its campaigns.
Archiving keeps the mission's companies, contacts and history. The campaigns the mission owns are archived with it, and it holds no share of your Reach while archived. Your subscription continues.
If the result says the mission was archived but names a campaign that was not paused, the mission change and that campaign result are different outcomes. Open Campaigns, inspect the named campaign and follow the instruction to pause it. Do not assume a partially successful archive stopped everything.
Archive confirmation explains retained history and campaigns archived with the mission.
Restore without restarting the mission#
- Open Archived in Missions and select the mission.
- Open Manage → Restore as paused.
- Read the confirmation, then select Restore as paused.
- Verify that the mission is paused. Review its saved settings and the campaigns brought back with it.
- Use Review & resume only when you want the mission to work again.
The mission starts nothing new until you resume it. Its own campaigns return towards their previous state; a previously running campaign may be re-armed during restoration. Check the individual campaign states rather than assuming Restore leaves every campaign paused. Campaign checks can prevent a campaign coming back on, and the result names any problem.
If a campaign remains paused after Restore, resolve the stated issue and review it in Campaigns before resuming that campaign. Restoring the mission is not proof that all campaigns resumed, and a campaign's state is not proof that the mission resumed.
Restore confirmation returns the mission paused for review.
Check the outcome#
Read the latest mission state and the relevant campaign states after each action. Keep the result message and time if anything is unclear. If a result says the request was sent but a fresh read did not confirm it, refresh and reconcile the state before retrying.
Use Read progress and know when to step in to separate activity from Introduction outcomes. For a setup hold, follow When a mission cannot start. If the state still cannot be confirmed, use Get help with useful context.
Watch the controls#
The walkthrough shows where each control lives and what to review in its confirmation. Follow the written steps and confirm the result in your own workspace.
Pause, resume, archive and restore a mission
Work with your agent#
Ask your agent to inspect the current state and prepare the right next action. Public University guidance explains the controls; your authorised account tools provide current account facts. Guidance does not grant permission to change a mission.
A clear task to copy
Inspect the selected mission and prepare a read-only operating recommendation. Discover the currently available authorised Kite tools; find the mission through list_missions, then use its returned market_id with get_mission. Read relevant activity and campaign states only where supported. Separate observed facts from unknown fields. Explain whether Pause, Review & resume, Archive or Restore as paused fits my stated goal, and list the confirmations I should check. Distinguish a mission outcome from a campaign outcome. If a previous Resume result is unknown, preserve the original request and session; do not create a replacement mission or request. Cite the current University guide and section version. Prepare guidance only. Do not change settings or state, resume a campaign, send messages, connect accounts or spend money. Never invent IDs, capabilities, successful outcomes or permission. Give me the next steps to review in Kite.
This prepares guidance. Use the controls in your Kite workspace for account changes and starting work.
Before you move on#
Make sure you can name the action taken, the state actually confirmed, and any campaign result still needing attention. These notes are for your learning; they do not change your Kite account.
