Choose the right research depth

Compare Fast, Verified and Deep, choose a level for your market and review what saving a depth change can do to mission work.

You'll leave with a clearer next step you can put into practice.

Start with the fact you need to check#

Research depth controls how thoroughly Kite checks company fit. Choose it from the facts that make a company relevant to your objective: what it does, where it operates and any required criteria that available data alone may not establish.

It does not establish willingness to talk. An Introduction still requires agreement to talk, nothing on record ruling the person out and an actual handoff. Unconfirmed required facts stay visible to confirm on the call. A company can fit very well and still have no interest in a conversation.

Compare Fast, Verified and Deep#

DepthWhat it checksWhat you should understand
FastYour filters and available company and person dataNo company website is read. Results depend on the data's quality and freshness, and some unsuitable companies may be contacted.
VerifiedEverything Fast uses, plus one read of each company's front pageA clear contradiction can rule a company out. A silent or unreadable page does not independently confirm fit; the filter-based fit is kept.
DeepCompany research against your criteria, with supporting evidenceWhat Kite cannot prove is set aside for you to decide.

KiteGTM includes Fast. KiteGTM Plus includes Fast and Verified. Heavy includes Fast, Verified and Deep. Free uses Fast. Check the choices available in your account; a depth shown as requiring another plan is not currently included for you. Availability follows the plan, including subscriptions on an earlier price of that plan.

Choose for your market#

Use Fast when your filters and available data describe the companies you want and you accept the limits of that information. Start by making the brief clear; a deeper setting cannot repair an unclear objective.

Choose Verified when a front-page contradiction would be useful for ruling companies out. For example, a company described as a distributor may plainly say on its homepage that it sells only to consumers. A missing statement about wholesale customers is not the same as evidence that it serves them.

Consider Deep when important criteria need supporting research, such as whether a company offers a particular service. Be ready to decide what to do with an unproven result. Do not lower a required criterion simply to turn an unknown into a pass.

Open the research control#

  1. Open the correct mission and choose Settings.
  2. Under How it runs, open Research depth.
  3. Read the descriptions and any plan constraint.
  4. Select the available depth that matches the evidence you need.

Selecting an option does not save it. Cancel closes the panel without applying that selection. Research depth and your involvement are separate choices: more research does not grant more autonomy.

Review before you save#

Read Before you save when it appears. If a mission finished building its Fast list, saving a deeper setting can continue its search. Existing permissions, funding, readiness and usage limits still apply. Do not assume that saving depth leaves all mission work unchanged.

Confirm the mission name and intended depth, then use Save when you want that specific change. Read back the saved research setting and the mission's current state. Existing work is not proof that every company received the newly selected research; inspect the evidence for the particular company when it matters.

If the result of Save is unknown, keep the notice and re-read the mission before trying again. Do not infer a successful change from the selected radio alone, and do not create a replacement mission to recover an uncertain result.

Review what the research found#

Open the mission's Audience and inspect the relevant company and person. Separate checked facts, evidence, contradictions and unknowns. With Deep, an unproven result needs a decision rather than a made-up explanation.

Use Review companies and people for the supported review controls. Research does not replace person approval, message review or the Introduction standard.

Choose the right research depth

Work with your agent#

Ask your agent to explain which facts your current depth can check and prepare a recommendation. If its connection does not return research settings or plan eligibility, those remain unknown until you inspect them in Kite.

Work with your agent

A clear task to copy

Prepare a research-depth recommendation for the selected mission. Discover current authorised read tools. Use returned IDs from list_missions with get_mission where supported, and report only the settings and state actually returned. Compare Fast, Verified and Deep using this guide; identify which required facts need evidence and which remain unknown. Do not infer plan eligibility from a price, a screenshot or the name Verified. Explain that a deeper setting can continue a completed Fast search, while permissions and limits still apply. Cite the current guide, section and version and provide the in-app Settings → Research depth steps for my review.

Prepare only. Do not save a setting, upgrade a plan, activate or resume work, approve people, send messages or spend money. Do not invent a tool for changing depth or claim that a fit verdict establishes an Introduction.

This prepares guidance. Use the controls in your Kite workspace for account changes and starting work.

Before you move on#

Choose one company-fit criterion and explain what Fast, Verified and Deep could establish about it. Then open the control and cancel it. You are ready when you can choose deliberately, recognise unknown evidence and verify a change after saving.
